A Place to Call Home

October 28, 2012

Throughout the years, wise aged couples and old faces graced with wrinkles tell us, "There's no place like home." Along with other young people, I failed to see the extraordinary of place. Home was normal, everyday, common. Home was predictable, monotonous, unvaried.

Now, a year has passed living away from home, in a new place with new friends, new surroundings, new weather, and new landscape. As time has passed, I identify more with the grandmother in the same old farmhouse she's lived in forever. I feel the special gift of home.

Home is steadfast, comfortable, secure. Home is peaceful, unwavering, faithful. Home is a real, physical place. True, it may change with time. Yet home is always anchored in a tangible location. That place is one part of what makes home home.
